My Little Athletes

I have amazing children. They do more than I ever did or that I could ever do when it comes to being athletic. I was never the kind of girl who was afraid of a ball, but I never actually played anything and I certainly never ran more than a few feet in my life. Both girls participated in the local track meet for their grade.

Vanessa's was first and it was a little cold, but a beautiful day. She ran the 400mm and the 100 mm and did the softball throw. She had a great time.

Christine was next. The day she went was very cold and turned out to pour on these poor students. They ended up canceling the meet and ushering the kids indoors until the buses could come back and pick them up. They were all soaked in the end. But it was not canceled before Christine had the chance to run in her 800 mm race. She was amazing. The 800 is 1/2 a mile and she blew her record out of the water. Her teacher kept telling me that she ran an awesome mile, but this was the first time I got to see it in action. She ended up winning 3rd place (one of her good friends from her soccer team, got 1st place - Adrene). She got a certificate and qualified for the district qualifying round. She was sick and not able to attend the qualifier, but I am proud of her none-the-less. She later went back and ran the 400 mm as well. She is an amazing kid and an amazing athlete! Go Christine!!
